Affordable Lip Liners: NYX

Hey lovelies!

Today I wanted to talk about my favorite affordable lip liners by NYX! The slim lip pencils retail for $3.50 and the retractable lip liners retail for $4.50.

The slim lip pencils come in a large variety of different shades and are very buttery and long-wearing. These liners glide on your lips beautifully and prevent your lipstick from bleeding. The retractable lip liners are my absolute favorite. They are very creamy and pigmented-sometimes I just use the lip liner as my lipstick. These lip liners are very great for the price and ensure that your lipstick doesn’t bleed and increases the wear of your lipstick.

Swatches:

From left to right: burgundy, rose, natural, pretty in pink, nude pink, nude, vanilla sky
Let me know what you guys think of these liners! If you have any other reccomendations, I would love to hear them 🙂 until next time…xox

makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Review!

Hey lovelies!

I recently purchased the new Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation in the shade Y345. I heard extremely good things about this foundation and wanted to try it out for myself. Keep reading if you would like to hear my thoughts 🙂

This foundation has quickly become a favorite of mine. The formula and finish of this foundation leaves the skin looking flawless.

Packaging: This foundation is encased in a beautiful, sleek plastic bottle with a chic black lid. It does have a pump, which is great. It is a huge deal breaker when I purchase expensive foundations. If a high-end foundation does not have a pump, there is a 90% chance I won’t purchase it. The foundation would have to be extremely amazing.

About Makeup Forever Ultra HD: This foundation creates a flawless complexion and has medium coverage that is quite buildable. This foundation looks extremely natural- looking just like skin (not cakey at all). The formula is not too thick, but not too thin, and is very comfortable on the skin. I’ve noticed that this foundation looks especially great in photos; It looks as if your skin is airbrushed. I personally love applying this foundation with my beauty blender if I want to sheer it out and make it a little more on the dewy side, or a foundation brush if I want to keep a full coverage look. This foundation wears beautifully throughout the day and does not settle into any fine lines. I absolutely love how this particalar foundation has 40 shades available so that everyone can use this product.

Overall, I love this foundation. It is a beautiful product which allows for buildable coverage, but still lets your natural skin shine through. If you have tried this foundation, let me know your thoughts! I hope you guys enjoyed! Until next time…xox

Beauty Blender vs. Dupes

Hey lovelies!

Today I wanted to compare the Beauty Blender and some sponges that I purchased at the drug store. I hear a lot of people saying that they can’t bring themselves to spend $28.00 on a sponge- and I was one of those people. I will be comparing these sponges and sharing my opinion, letting you know if the Beauty Blender is worth the splurge!

(I know they are dirty, sorry about that!)

The sponges on the left were purchased at Rexall (a Canadian drug store) and the Beauty Blender was purchased at Sephora. Two of the no-name sponges were $13.00, whereas the Beauty Blender retails for $28.00.

DUPES

Since I was not willing on spending $28.00 on the Beauty Blender, I purchased dupes from the drugstore first. I liked them, and they applied my makeup nicely. That being said, I did not notice a huge difference between applying my makeup with the sponges or my makeup brushes. I tried running these sponges under water to see if they would expand, and they only expanded the tiniest bit. They are tougher sponges. They are not squishy, and when applying foundation by bouncing it on your face, it feels hard and also absorbs product. Although that is the case, these are good sponges if you are on a budget. They apply foundation nicely and give your skin a beautiful finish. In my opinion, however, they are not comparable to the Beauty Blender.

BEAUTY BLENDER

A few months ago, while browsing through Sephora, I decided to pick up the Beauty Blender since it’s highly raved about. After using it once, I knew I was IN LOVE. Ever since I have purchased the Beauty Blender, I have not used any brushes/other sponges to apply my foundation and concealer. When you run this sponge under water, it expands to double its size and allows the products sit on top of the sponge rather than it being absorbed. This allows you to use less product. The Beauty Blender is so soft and feel great on the skin. I find that this sponge makes my makeup a little on the dewy side- and I personally love that. This sponge applies my makeup flawlessly, blends the product in beautifully and ensures no streaking!

It is clear that I personally prefer the Beauty Blender over the other sponges that I have purchased. Having said that, I have heard amazing reviews on the Real Techniques sponges, stating that they are comparable to the Beauty Blender. Let me know which one you prefer, and if you have found any other dupes that you like! Thanks for reading, and until next time…xox
